Save Bardon Park

Bardon Park is Crown Land, listed as a "Neighbourhood Park" intended to "serve the informal recreational needs of the local residential area".

The Coogee Dolphins have been granted formal and exclusive use of the park which is contrary to the main aims and guidelines in Randwick city Councils own Generic Plan of Management for Neighbourhood Parks This has been done with little meaningful consultation with the Neighbourhood residents.

Currently exclusive use of the park for training by of the Coogee Dolphins is Tuesday and Thursday afternoons between 3:30pm and 7pm from March to September.

Proposals put before council seek to use significant public funds to advantage the Coogee Dolphins at the expense of neighbourhood residents’ informal recreational needs.

The Coogee Dolphins sporting Club has stated on it’s website,

“Currently our Juniors train on Bardon Park the use of this park was granted to us in 2006 however the restrictions placed on our club are inadequate and the facilities and pitch is sub standard. The pitch has a pathway through the middle. The field is not marked out. There are no amenities blocks.”

Bardon Park is a "Neighbourhood Park" to be used by all. It’s use should not be amended to provide any form of ownership to any one group, BUT, this is exactly what has occurred.

Join the swell of opinion and action to regain full community use of Bardon Park and tell council to find a more suitable home for the Coogee Dolphins, one that better suits their growing need.

There are far more suitable spaces for the Coogee Dolphins with significant facilities and amenities already in place.
