On Tuesday April 2, 2010, the Metrolink Board of Directors (BOD) will convene a meeting to vote on proposed rate hikes, ending of fare discounts, and significant elimination of service by cutting both weekday and weekend train routes.
We believe the riders of the Antelope Valley (AV) line have been unfairly burdened with critical service reduction relative to other lines based on available fare revenue and ridership data.
We, the undersigned, respectfully demand that the Southern California Regional Rail Authority (“SCRRA”) reconsider the proposed drastic reduction in service (46% weekday, 50% weekend), on top of a likely fare increase, on the Antelope Valley line.
Such a reduction in service would cause a disproportionate negative impact to AV commuters as compared with the proposed reductions on other lines in the system. Additionally, no other mass transit options are available to AV commuters, other than very limited bus service.
