Safe parking for residents of School Lane Stafford ST174HR

The lay-by facility is requested to address a long-standing issue of inadequate local parking, exacerbated over the past few years by increased road traffic, including that of heavy goods vehicles, causing traffic and safety related concerns in the neighbourhood.

The area of concern is the section of road fronting the houses 61- 75 School Lane, Stafford, ST17 4HR. There is on-street parking available to these residents; however this is both dangerous and not sufficient to cater for the need. The available parking is on a narrow section of road, immediately after the single track railway bridge and between two sharp bends. There is no alternative parking or access available to the residents of these properties.

The dangers to local residents, especially children and the elderly, attempting to access their vehicles in this location are unacceptably high. There is no provision for parking for emergency vehicles in the immediate vicinity of the houses in this area of School Lane.

The on-street parking is adjacent to a large piece of land owned by Stafford and Rural Homes which has no continuous roadside pavement or kerb, making access to the road difficult for pedestrians and motorists alike.
