- Target:
- Mayor of Miami Beach, Dan Gelber
- Region:
- United States of America
Rising sea levels are a major problem in Miami Beach that affects our environment, roads, and drinking water supply. Sea levels in South Florida have gone up about a foot since the 1930s. Also, Florida has more residents at risk from climate change than any other US state. Furthermore, Nearly 90% of the drinking water in south Florida comes from aquifers, and these are finding their fresh water pushed further and further inland as the salt water exerts more and more pressure.
If you sign the petition, you wil be helping start action in Miami Beach to help stop sising sea levels by spending a bigger portion of our budget on preventing more sea rise, by raising roads, and making valves and pumps to control where the water goes. Also, commercials and signs should be produced to make awareness on sea level rising and how to solve the issue, so we can all know what is going on, and what our city will do to control it.
