Revoke Brian Wilson's Fine

On Tuesday, July 27, Marlins manager Edwin Rodiguez complained about the footwear of Giants closing pitcher Brian Wilson, calling the shoes "a little too bright, a little too flashy." The next day, Wilson was fined $1000 without warning and forced to alter his excellent apparel with sharpie, despite the fact that no Major League Baseball rule specifically addresses cleat appearance.

We the people of San Francisco and its surrounding counties protest the decision of Major League Baseball to fine Brian Wilson for his sweet kicks. In a game where players are essentially permitted to present themselves in whatever dumb fashion they choose (see Manny Ramirez for reference), we think it is absurd that our delightful closing pitcher would be fined without warning for a "violation" that is not even specifically addressed in the MLB rule book. Furthermore, we find the fine to be unpatriotic, as it contrasts the spirit of American individualism that should be permitted -- to the extent that it does not interfere with the game -- in America's national pastime.
