REVIEW UNFAIR PARKING REGULATIONS IN VICTORIA ST. TOOWOOMBA

There is a parking area in Victoria Street, Toowoomba behind Workwear Discounts, which has signs at the front saying 1st. hour free parking, following time paid parking.

I had occasion to stop there today, saw the parking warden who stood behind my vehicle and took down the number leaving me with the impression that she was checking that I wouldn't overstay my time. After running in to buy a pair of work boots, probably 5 minutes, I return to my vehicle to find a parking fine for $88.00 AND ON QUESTIONING SAID WARDEN WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD HAVE GOT A TICKET ON ENTRY AND DISPLAYED IT ON MY DASH.

I questioned why she hadn't told me when she watched me park, her response ot my problem it's written on bottom of the sign. There were three lots of people that had just been issued tickets while this happened.

SURELY THEY COULD HAVE A MORE EXPLANATORY SIGN SAYING "All people parking must take ticket and display on dash On leaving first hour is free."

PLEASE LET'S SEE IF WE CAN GET SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS HIGHWAY ROBBERY. SIGN PETITION BELOW AND WE WILL SUBMIT IT TO THE COUNCIL.

The sign out the front says 1st. hour free parking, so presumed that there wouldn't be a problem. The parking warden was standing behind my car taking down my number as I parked, not saying a word.

On returning to my vehicle I had been issued with an $88.00 fine, and on questioning her was told not her problem should have got a ticket and displayed it on my dashboard. I asked why she hadn't said anything when I came with no response. On checking the signage later it says 1st, hour free subsequent time to be paid. Then at the bottom it advises that you must take a ticket and display it. If there are 3 or 4 cars turning at once, how are you supposed to stop and read the whole sign. There were three lots of people with fines who had houht the same as me whilst I was there.

SURELY THEY COULD HAVE CLEARER SIGNAGE SAYING AT THE TOP "ALL VEHICLES TAKE A TICKET AND DISPLAY ON DASHBOARD."

THIS IS AN UNFAIR LICENCE TO PRJNT MONEY AND MUST BE STOPPED.
