Ohop Lake was once a resort lake, with fishing, boat and cabins to rent. This changed many years ago. The restrictive ski hours however didn't change with the times or when the resort left.

Ohop is a Class B Lake similar to Spanaway Lake, Lake Tanwax, Clear Lake, Bay Lake, Harts Lake, and Silver Lake, which none have the hour restrictions like Ohop Lake. Ohop hours should be the same as the other Class B lakes.

Boats and activities have changed over the years, yet Ohop residences have tried to maintain a "back when we were kids" feel to the lake. This is hurting property values. We need to move into current times change the hours and let the property values increase and the hours increase to accommodate the ever changing world.

We no longer can get to the lake to enjoy a quick ski by 3:30. Traffic, longer work days, makes this impossible.

Lake property owners would like a little more time to actually enjoy the lake, especially during the few short summer months we have. It is only a few more hours during the day.

We, the undersigned, call on Pierce County Council to change speed limit exception hours to be between 10:00am and 5:30pm, so the Code would read:
The maximum speed limit on Ohop Lake is 8 mph except that between 10:00 am and 5:30 pm the speed limit is 40 mph (see Pierce County Code, Section 8.88.470 A. and B.3).
