The spectacular Australian wildflower, the Waratah (Telopea speciosissima) was adopted as the official floral emblem for the state of New South Wales (NSW) in 1962: http://www.anbg.gov.au/emblems/nsw.emblem.html
In 2009 the NSW Government adopted an "artistic representation" of the Waratah as the NSW Government logo, which looks more like a generic lotus flower than the majestic Waratah: http://www.nsw.gov.au/symbols-emblems-nsw.
They did so at great expense and without asking the people of NSW.
Our NSW State floral emblem, the increasingly rare Waratah, deserves better than to be dumped for a mere "artistic representation" that is more befitting a restaurant menu.
We, the undersigned, call on the incoming NSW Government following the NSW state election on 26 March 2011, to return the rare and majestic Waratah to its rightful place as the NSW Government logo to represent all NSW Government agencies and their associated representatives.
