The "Camp Hadley Trust" was established on July 14, 1941 by Lovicy M. Delano who donated the land for the benefit and use of the organization now known as "Boy Scouts of Marion" (Troop 32), and their guests. The trust has been in existence for 78 years under the direction of appointed trustees with the purpose of promoting Scoutcraft, the teaching of patriotism, courage, self-reliance, kindred virtues, by recognized methods, the development of character, the ability to do things for themselves and others, and training for good citizenship and physical fitness.
Lovicy M. Delano donated a second piece of property March 15, 1946 to Camp Hadley Trust. Etta Hix Allen, one time principal at Sippican School, donated a third adjacent piece of property to Camp Hadley Trust on September 6, 1968.
We, the undersigned, request that the Board of Assessors of the Town of Marion restore the tax exemption of the Camp Hadley Trust.
We also support the Boy Scouts of Marion, Troop 32 and the efforts of the trustees and the trust to hold and manage the real estate for the benefit and use of any organization made up of boys and girls of Marion of similar character for similar purposes, and their guests.
