Citizen Petition to the City of Minnetrista concerning the proposed Red Oak Woods Development
The proposed development of RED OAK Golf Course will significantly alter the character of surrounding Minnetrista and Orono neighborhoods. It will have significant effects and environmental impacts, including loss of recreational and green space, water quality in Jennings Bay and Forest Lake, increased traffic congestion and traffic safety issues.
There is a strong desire by area citizens that density of Red Oak Woods Development is kept at the minimum required by the MET council. This is consistent with the City of Minnetrista mission statement of “protecting natural environment and maintaining a rural character.”
This Petition proposes the City of Minnetrista up hold the following priorities.
1) The city should strive to minimize density and maximize green space where ever possible.
2) In lieu of the park dedication fee the developer should be required to donate a minimum of two lots on the western boundary of The Woods of Saga Hill Park as recommended by the planning Commission on July 29th 2013.
3) To ensure that appropriate holding ponds are put in place to accommodate increased velocity and volume of water effecting residents of Red Oak Lane/Cty Rd 19 and running under Minneapolis Avenue into Jennings Bay.
4) Maintain Source Land Capital’s original plan for constructing a cul-de-sac on the south end of the Red Oak Development leaving Grand View Ave a non-through street as previously approved by Planning Commission on July 29th 2013.
5) Establishing a privacy perimeter for Red Oak Lane residents as being proposed in the Lakeview Development.
