Resolve 680N Traffic Congestion - Prevent Traffic Rerouting through residential neighborhood
- Target:
- City and State Government
- Region:
- United States of America
Due to uncontrolled and explosive growth of high density housing in cities north bound of Fremont CA, the 680N Freeway has become a serious bottle neck. It appears like there was no coordination by the state agencies and cities in managing growth and potential traffic in/out flow and volume. With continued growth and housing builds, the problems is expected to get worse and cause heavy traffic congestion 24/7. Added to this, the Google maps is re-rerouting traffic as a 680N bypass through residential neighborhoods. As a result of this, the interior roads have become fully congested and put the safety, security, life-style of residents at risk. The home-owners have become prisoners in their own home unable to get in/out of their own home and run errands for medical care, grocery shopping and many simple things in life. There have been several fatal accidents in the neighborhood with hit and run, including death. In addition, due to increase of transient traffic, the residents have experienced increase in crime of break-in, burglaries, robberies, etc.
The city of Fremont has instituted restrictions on turn signaling, but are unable to enforce it due to volume of drivers violating the city laws. What the city is attempting is a short term mitigation to prevent freeway bypass traffic. The fundamental issue remains - a solution to the traffic volume, an effective transportation solution, controlled growth of residential construction in proportion to the existing infrastructure capacity.
To the regional public representative: City and State to conduct in-depth study of the problem, Come with up both short and long term solutions to address the issue. Prevent companies like Google, Apple, etc. from re-routing high/freeway traffic through residential neighborhoods through legislation or other means.
Attention to Office of:
