We would like the governor of Oklahoma to repeal the sales tax on edible grocery items because we feel that it is a hardship to all citizens, especially lower income families.
When there is a tax on edible grocery items, people tend to buy cheaper less nutritious foods causing health problems and obesity. Oklahoma has one of the largest obesity and health issues in the country.
I know that removing the sales tax on groceries won't eliminate these problems, but they will be a start to showing that the state cares about it's people.
We the undersigned are asking the state of Oklahoma to repeal the unfair sales tax on edible grocery items.
We feel that in doing so, it will help in the fight of obesity and other health problems that stem from the purchase of lower priced foods that are high in fats and sugars.
