Although not directly linked with the highways adoption, and NOT a condition of the roads adoption, the council are to take responsibility of the grass area and footpath at the front of the Byewaters estate, next to the waterfall.
As part of their conditions to do this, they have insisted on installing railings to prevent people falling in the river. Now, no one has fallen in the river in the 12 years or so that the estate has existed, and no other water ways have railings, including other local rivers, the Aquadrome in Rickmansworth (and the river that runs through it), beaches nor the 400 mile canal toe path. The railings have ruined the look of the estate, and are totally unnecessary. All residents asked so far object to these being in place.
We, the undersigned, wish for the railings recently installed, quite unnecessarily, next to the Gade river in Byewaters, to be removed with immediate effect.
They offer no good purpose and have ruined the once picturesque look of the estate.
