Ali Saremi, a 62-year-old political prisoner, was sentenced to death on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, without adhering to due legal process. After spending 24 years in prison, this brave man, whose only 'crime' was to visit his son in Camp Ashraf, Iraq, was murdered by the brutal, fascist Iranian regime on 28th December 2010.
Mr Saremi sent out a message from prison warning about the intentions of the clerical regime’s leaders to carry out a massacre of political prisoners and the uprising’s detainees. He was proven right and sadly is one of the regime's most recent victims.
Mr. Saremi, who spent a total of 24 years in the prisons of the Shah and the current regime, was last arrested in the summer of 2007 for attending a ceremony marking the 19th anniversary of the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners by the Iranian regime in 1988.
The manner of Mr Saremi's arrest was particularly cruel and inhuman. On Monday, April 20 2010, the regime put him on trial on fresh charges despite already being a political prisoner sentenced to death.
Ali Saremi is the father of one of the residents of Camp Ashraf in Iraq. The 62 year old was inhumanly taken to the regime’s court while in chains just two short days after undergoing a serious surgery. The show trial came to an end without any rulings and was ordered to resume at a later date.
The presiding judge, Mohammad Moqisseh, is a former member of the “Death Committee” responsible for the massacre of political prisoners in 1988. The subject of the proceedings was a brutal attack in September 2008 which was carried out against political prisoners by a number of dangerous inmates organized by Evin prison officials. During the show trial, Mr. Saremi protested against the new plot of prison officials and the creation of a phony case against him, as well as his exile to Karaj’s Gohardasht prison.
This petition has now been amended to report Ali Saremi's words from prison:
http://persian2english.com/?p=13365
Ali Saremi: 'Their only goal in hanging me is to intimidate our youth'. This will not happen. Let his example, like the senseless murders carried out by the regime of thousands more men, women and children, inspire us further to rid the world of the corrupt, violent fascists that represent no one in Iran any more. Please continue to sign his petition to show his family and the 70 million people in the 'Big Prison' that is Iran, that we are with them, and will not give up until they are free.
Thank you.
Ali Saremi was murdered on 28th December 2010 on charges without foundation and the process by which they were extracted both illegal and immoral.
We ask the addressees of this petition to take action in condemning and intervening to stop all such illegal and barbaric executions of innocent victims of the Iranian regime. We demand that they intervene to ensure not one more illegal murder can be perpetrated by this despicable regime.
