The Levittown Athletic Club (LAC) was founded in 1956 supporting the Youth Girls Fast pitch Softball Program at Azalea Fields in Levittown. The league consists of over 300 youth girls in grades 1 thru 12.
LAC has been successful in keeping registration costs to a minimum through the support of tournament play with our 5 travel softball teams. These tournaments hosted at our home fields provide the necessary infusion of funds to subsidies intramural registration fees, equipment, uniforms and field maintenance.
LAC has been hosting these tournaments for over 30 years. In addition these tournaments showcase our youth girls’ talent to other teams and towns. Some have been selected to college scholarship programs directly through the play within LAC. These tournaments also assist local businesses.
Teams visiting the LAC fields patronize delis, restaurants and hotels supporting the local community.
We the undersigned, taxpayers and residents of the Town of Hempstead, support the Levittown Athletic Club in hosting Tournament play with other teams outside of the Town of Hempstead.
We believe not holding these tournaments at the home fields of Azalea Road will have a negative effect on the youth girls’ softball program in the town of Levittown. We as taxpayers, hold the Town of Hempstead leadership personally responsible for ensuring these tournaments continue at Azalea Road Park.
