This Campaign Petition is a vital step in gaining support to reopen the Thornton-Leven Rail Link.
The Thornton – Leven Rail Link was closed to passenger services under the Beeching cuts in 1969.
The railway line has remained intact and operational for freight until 2001.
The infrastructure of bedding, rails and bridges remain intact and could be brought back into use for freight and passenger services with some upgrading.
The LevenMouth Rail Campaign is focused on the reinstatement of passenger services on the existing Thornton- Leven rail line to give greater transport links to an area that has never recovered since the late 1960’s. The social impact of having a rail link back into the Levenmouth area would stimulate business growth in an area not presently served to an Urban population of in excess of 37,000.
"We the undersigned hereby support the reinstatement of the Thornton-Leven Rail Link..."
