Recently, Murphy Clark was removed from her position as the Syracuse University Drama Department office coordinator. As a result, numerous students and alumni have written letters and sent emails to Maria Marrero and Ann Clarke as well as other faculty and administrative members, which have proven ineffective.
Many students have stated that it was Murphy Clark who influenced their decision to choose Syracuse as their place of post-secondary education. She is "unparalleled, on top of everything, everyone's second mother, the gem of Syracuse, a happy medium between the administration and the students, and the most beloved member" of the department.
"Losing Murphy is like losing the the soul of SU Drama."
As a final plea, the following petition has been established.

We, the students, and alumni of the Syracuse University Drama Department, call on Interim Chair of the Department, Maria Marrero to reinstate Secretary Murphy Clark. The undersigned believe that she is an irreplaceable presence in the drama family. Her strike off has led us to question the administrative merit Ms. Marrero has as 'interim chair,' thus, we request that the official responsibilities and rights of her position be outlined for clarification.
Murphy Clark's work ethic far exceeds the demands of her job. It is an honor and privilege for the University and the surrounding community to have had the opportunity to meet and work with her. She is, without doubt, a driving force for the morale of the students. Her uplifting personality and professional state of being makes her an absolute inspiration. Murphy Clark is the shining light of humility, integrity, and dedication. Please do not let that light be extinguished, for we fear that the department simply cannot function as smoothly and efficiently without her.
