RickShaws have exploded into Ireland & government has failed to regulate this booming industry. Several RTE reports & documentaries have covered this topic as well as national media on how the industry is currently operating.

Drivers are NOT licensed, have NO identification & are not required to show any.
Drivers are NOT garda vetted while carrying often young drunk members of the public.
Drivers have no private or public liability insurance.
Drivers are NOT required to be sober while operating the vehicle.
Drivers pay NO tax or state contribution to the country they operate.
Drivers are not required to keep the vehicle in any type of road worthy state.
Drivers are not required to register with the carriage office or answer to any over sight body that ALL other modes of public transport have to comply with.
Drivers are not required to know the rules of the road or demonstrate any basic road awareness.
Drivers are NOT bound by contract law when taking passengers & are free to demand more money mid-journey.
Drivers have been found to be distributing drugs over this network.
Dublin City Council's view on this is buyer be ware and posted this statement on their website: "rickshaws operating in Dublin City are not regulated by DCC or otherwise and that some rickshaw operators appear not to have public liability insurance"

We are asking people to sign this petition so we can lobby the Minister of Transport to regulate this mode of transport in our country.

We want to see it regulated like any other mode of public transport to ensure citizens of our country have their rights & personal safety protected using the same methods afforded to every other mode of public transport, We want to see this service brought under the remit of the National carriage office who will act as the oversight body
