Regain Possession FIU North Field, Modesto Campus for Intramural Club Sports Use

In 1989 FIU constructed two fields designed and designated for Intramural/Club Sports/Student Activities use at its South Campus. In 2003 one of those fields (North Field), was appropriated by FIU Athletics for use as a soccer practice field.
Athletics regularly rents out the North field to any public or FIU student organization for a fee. Tuition paying (athletics & sports fee paying), FIU students are not permitted to set foot on North Field unless they reserve field in advance and pay fee.
FIU's population has multiplied hugely since the construction of the two fields yet the entire FIU student body is presently relegated to the use of just one field for all its Intramural, Club, Greek organizations, meanwhile the North field sits idle and empty.
We, the undersigned, strongly request the re-designation of the FIU South Campus, North Field, for the use of the entire student body at FIU and for both North & South fields to become the domain of FIU Student Activities and not FIU Athletics.
