DEATH BY 1000 CUTS.
Currently 3 different companies are hoping to extend mining activity at Redhill, West Australia. The effect will be a superpit. Mining the Perth Hills (metropolitan area) is unacceptable.
Expansion of mining activities must be stopped. Existing mines closed. Viable alternative mine sites available with rail access. Significant aboriginal sacred sites are in jeopardy. River catchments contaminated. Protected flora and fauna species at risk. Dust, noise, visual pollution and heavy haulage traffic at already unacceptable levels. Existing roads are not able to cope with current traffic levels.
SAY NO TO REDHILL QUARRIES.
We, the undersigned, call on the West Australian state government to refuse all applications for new or expanded mining activity or other development, which results in any increase in truck/haulage traffic on Toodyay Rd between Roe Hwy and the Waste Transfer Station. Existing mines disregard their impact on local residents, the environment and sacred aboriginal sites.
