The flag of Knoxville, Tennessee has been flown since 1896. Through comparing the flag of Knoxville to the principles of flag design outlined by the North American Vexillological Association (Commission's Report On The Guiding Principles Of Flag Design), it is clear that the flag is in need of redesigning. The flag of Knoxville does not adhere to principles 2.2, 3.1, 5.3, 5.4, 5.6, 6.2, 6.4, far too properly fulfill the role of a flag.
The flag of Knoxville is rarely seen. We, the undersigned, recognize that this is due to its poor design, and call for a new flag that best represents Knoxville in the hopes of further uniting Knoxville under the flag it deserves. More specifically, for Section 1-12 of the Knoxville Code of Ordinances to be amended.
