It is evident, that the violations on the censorship laws in Lebanon is still on the rise and the fight to combat this issue is necessary. It is unfortunate to say that these laws are still outdated since the French mandate whereas the General Security, who is the decision-maker of censorship standards, is usually influenced by religious and political authorities authorities solely for the own interest. This is a campaign collaborated with the NGO; MARCH, in order to effectively seek a re-organization of the decision-making process of this censorship on cinematic works and to always have rational and valid legal foundations before setting the standards. Moreover, this re-organization helps shed light on the future of the youth of Lebanon in order to protect their rights and more importantly, fight for them.
We, the undersigned, call on the General Security and the Ministry of Information to re organize and re establish the decision making process of censorship on cinematic works in Lebanon in order to achieve fair censorship policies by solely legal authorities and no one else.
