We won’t let you vote, get married, own a gun, drink alcohol or serve in the active military until you are 18 years old and classified as an adult.
Which means you are not only legally responsible for yourself and your own actions, but are also accountable for what you do and say.
So WHY do we let our children drive vehicles that in irresponsible hands can kill and maim? Do we really think children are mature enough to handle this responsibility, its hard enough at 18 or 19, some are but the majority are not. When disaster happens, those responsible are treated as a child in the Children’s Court with less accountability because of their age.
Children do not have the same penalties as adults, there names are not released because it may ruin their lives later. What about their victims?
If we aren't going to make parents legally responsible for their children's' actions in conjunction with their children, then we need to change the law. In this case Raise the legal driving age to 18.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT SUPPORTS THE PETITION. WE WILL NOT BE HEARD UNLESS WE HAVE NUMBERS!! I ENCOURAGE YOU TO GET EVERYONE IN YOUR FAMILY TO SIGN.
We, the undersigned, call on the Western Australian Government to raise the legal driving age to 18.
