A tyre storage company is about to dump over 150,0000 tyres on land in the Taupo basin. The land is across the Rd from 410 Puketapu ( Otutira Trustee Limited 134 Whangamata Rd) at the end of the Airstrip. From ariel photos it looks like a few hundred tyres have been dumped in the last couple of days.
The director of the land the tyres are on is also a director of Kawerau Tyre storage Ltd, the other director of Kawerau Tyre storage is Angela Merrie, Angela is the sole director of Eco Version the company that has been contracted by Hamilton city.
The Taupo District Council and the Waikato District Council have been contact and both state the are powerless to prevent this action which effective moves an unsightly environmental pollution problem from the Waikato region to Taupo the Taupo region.
Stand up against waste in the form over 150,000 used tyres being dumped in our beautiful Lake Taupo region.
We the undersigned call upon the Minister for the Environment and the Waikato Regional Council to intervene, prevent this action and find an alternative disposal site or process.
