As of April 1, 2015 the state of Texas does NOT have in place laws to protect an individual from having to give employers or universities his or her social media username and passwords.
Discussions are currently in place for lawmakers to do so, however support is still needed.
By signing this petition we, the undersigned, support HB1777.
"Relates to prohibiting an employer from accessing the personal online account of employees and job applicants through electronic communication devices; establishes an unlawful employment practice."
We support measures that make it illegal for employers and universities to ask individuals to supply social media username and passwords.
