An intimate bond is for a man and his wife, not something to be shown to other people. In addition, pornography perverts intimacy and good relationships and exhibits perverse, harmful, and immoral behavior.
It has been seen on numerous accounts, that legalizing a particular action has an influence on the frequency of it occurring.
When something was illegal, and then made legal, the number of people that take part in it increases.
It is known that prostitution is harmful to people, so to protect people from harm, it is not legal in all states of this country but one, It is an overwhelming majority that know that it is harmful, and that majority is doing something to protect people.
There are many different harms during prostitution; sexually transmitted diseases, physical abuse and harm to people, sex trafficking, just to name a few. There are also other harms because of it and even in the one state it is legal, there are efforts to help people and change that because it is known that it is a harm to people.
However, we are missing to protect people from one major harm in society, pornography!!! Pornography not only harms those involved in it, but those exposed to it in other ways also. So really it’s worse, because from testimonials of those that took part in this unnecessary sexual indulgence, we know they have encountered the same harms as in prostitution as listed above, and the other harms of prostitution also not all named here.
There are also harms to people who have been exposed to this kind of material or view it on a regular basis, it is legal so they might think it is morally ok. Laws are there to protect people against immoral things, because it is known that those things lead to emotional, mental, and even physical harm including suicide attempts and suicide because of low self esteem and self perception, feelings of shame and guilt, anxiety, depression to name a few.
In summary, pornography is just as harmful as prostitution to those partaking in the sex acts, however there are others effected by it because it filmed and photographed for distribution in turn harming more people, so in fact it is more harmful overall then prostitution.
The fact that something is filmed and made for distribution, does not make any sense now that one can do something that is wrong and harmful because they filmed it or photographed it and distribute it. It is not good for me to run a stop sign and put others and myself in danger if I film or photograph myself or have someone else photograph me running the stop sign. The fact that someone films or photographs the deed, does not make it good or just for them to do that.
If we know something is a harm to people, but making it legal and allowing for more of it it because it is filmed and or photographed and distributed for others to view, does not follow any kind of good reasoning.
If we know something is wrong and harmful and immoral, filming it and distributing it for more people to see does not make it right, not harmful, and moral.
We undersigned call on the United States Congress and United States Courts and those that were given a role to protect people from harm by having the ability to pass or influence laws, to fulfill their obligation and protect people from pornography.
An intimate bond is for a man and his wife, not something to be shown to and by other people. In addition to that, pornography perverts this intimacy and good relationship by exhibiting perverse, harmful and immoral behavior.
Legalization of something, and allowing something by law that is immoral, can misguide people into believing that it is good and moral since laws are established for peoples moral good in mind ( since it is known that immoral things cause harm. )
Prostitution is illegal in all but one state in the country, and even where it is legal there are plans to not have it be legal. The reason is because it is known that it is immoral and harmful to people, so to protect all of us, it is not supported by law.
Therefore, we thank all those that are protecting people by the laws they pass which are for the good of all of us, and urge those in charge of passing and or improving laws to be vigilant and to improve the laws that still need to be improved to make sure they are not encouraging anyone to things that are immoral, because it has an effect on peoples decisions and amount of hurt in society. Also we want you to have a clean conscience that the laws that you pass and allow to be, are not harmful to people.
If you pass and improve laws that are for the moral good of people, you will have no regrets that you were encouraging by law something that is immoral and harmfully to people. Kindly, once again, we urge you to improve and adjust the laws so that they are for the good of the people, and so there is never an occasion for a stumbling block or hinderance towards another.
