The recent arrival of a Super trawler into Australian waters further exhibits the blatent disregard modern global economics is showing our environment.
The growing anger among the people of Australia at the lack of consultation and potential impact of these trawlers on our ecosystems needs to be heard.
This petition is one of many programs designed to drag on the ears of those that rely on us for the place in office. It is for those that are concerned for the sustainable harvesting of fish stocks so that there is fish to be enjoyed long into the future both recreationally and commercially.
It is about protecting this resource for the masses not for the wealth of a few.
We the undersigned, call on the people we have elected to listen now to the masses as we speak with one voice.
There has been worldwide sentiment and condemnation of these super trawlers and any potential destruction and decimation of precious ecosystems and the fish stocks that form them.
We categorically demand an immediate review of any use of Super trawlers in Australian fisheries and fully support the protection of local fishing industries essential to our communities.
We do not support the use of super trawlers nor want them.
We say no to the unsustainable practice employed by the trawlers and wish to protect our fisheries now and into the future.
