The Tennessee Department of Mental Retardation Services has systematically cut funding for providers in the amount of 6.1% due to mismanagement of Department funding.
There are approximately 4500 person supported by the Waiver program housed under this department. These cuts would systematically put providers out of business across the state.
Without the necessary funding the community and the people supported would not be safe.
We, the undersigned, call on the legislative body of the State of Tennessee to stop systematic cuts by the DMRS department.
These cuts are currently taking place without consent from family members, conservators, and the consumers of the services.
The department is systematically eliminating much needed therapy services by initiating hard caps that are marginal at best.
Please consider this information when making budget decisions that affect DMRS.
