On January 12, 2009, Jason Vatcher was in a fatal collision on Petrolia Line, West of Mandaumin Rd. In the past three days, three people have died from vehicle accidents in that area. Clearly, this stretch of road, while maintained, needs further safety measures.
Straight roads with steady speeds can encourage driver fatigue, speeding, and inattentiveness. We propose that a 4-way stop, with rumble strips, and a flashing 4-way red light be install at the Petrolia Line and Mandaumin Rd intersection. The purpose of this is to interrupt the hypnotizing effect of the road, forcing motorists to slow down and to pay attention.
As concerned citizens and motorists, we would like to see the County of Lambton, with their governance over Sarnia-Lambton Roads and Traffic, agree to our request and consider other roads where similar issues may occur.
We, the undersigned, call on the County of Lambton to agree to install a 4-Way Stop, with flashing red light and rumble strips, at the intersection of Petrolia Line and Mandaumin Road.
