The Merlion, the official mascot of Singapore, depicted as a mythical creature with a lion's head and the body of a fish. Being of prominent symbolic nature to Singapore and Singaporeans in general, it is widely used to represent both the city state and its people in sports teams, advertising, branding, tourism and as a national personification.

The Sentosa Merlion is the largest of the 5 Merlions, here in Singapore, and in the world. Situated at Sentosa Island, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Singapore, it stands with prominence, fascinating Singaporeans, foreign workers and tourists alike.

The Sentosa Merlion, along with all Merlions should be preserved as National Monuments, to remind us and generations to come of Singapore’s Origins.

However, there are plans for demolition to take place, with 20 October 2019 as it’s last day of operation.

We, the undersigned, call on the National Heritage Board of Singapore, to Preserve the Sentosa Merlion as a National Monument.
