NJCVC opposes S1759 and any legislation that restricts parents' rights to claim a religious exemption to vaccination. S1759 is an attack on religious rights and violates religious freedom in NJ.
We demand our right to religious freedom and to have a religious exemption to vaccination for our children without any limitations imposed by our legislature.
The NJ Religious Exemption to Vaccination is in danger.
Currently, parents can opt their children out of vaccines due to religious beliefs without being forced to reveal private information such as their religious affiliation. A new bill S1759, sponsored by Senators Loretta Weinberg and Joseph Vitale, is highly intrusive, expensive, and appears unconstitutional.
If S1759 is signed into law, it will require parents seeking a religious exemption to:
* specify their exact religious tenets in notarized, signed, and sworn format
* include an explanation of the nature of the religious tenet or practice that is implicated by the "vaccination"
* explain how administration of "the vaccine" would violate, contradict, or otherwise be inconsistent with that tenet or practice
* affirm that the religious tenet is consistently held
The religious exemption to mandatory vaccination is a cherished religious and parental right. We Oppose S1759.
