Time to preserve the Bernie Sanders campaign office in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn! In two weeks time, New York votes in its own Democratic primary. If history is any indication, the high ups will close down the Gowanus HQ after the election and move to the next electoral contests. However, there is a great need for a Gowanus political center and volunteers have invested a lot of time and effort in spurring the "political revolution" in Brooklyn.
Having received millions of dollars in campaign contributions, the Bernie campaign is flush with cash and could easily afford to extend the rental lease in Gowanus. In addition, Bernie must certainly recognize the vital political contribution of volunteers who share his own Brooklyn roots.
After the New York primary, the Gowanus HQ could act as a glorified call center for other electoral contests and primaries. The center could also deploy volunteers to nearby states such as New Jersey, Connecticut or Pennsylvania. After the campaign has concluded, the space could carry on Bernie's mission by taking up vital issues of concern, by putting on talks or lectures, by spurring local political education, or whatever volunteers ultimately decide to do. Perhaps, the Gowanus center could even adopt a cooperative structure in line with Bernie's own historic support of such ventures.
Once we secure the maximum amount of signatures, the petition will be delivered to high up campaign staff in Bernie's campaign. Time is of the essence! People may sign their name, adding a brief sentence if they wish at the side enumerating what they have contributed to the campaign thus far.
Let's preserve the political revolution in Brooklyn and Bernie's legacy!
