We are Asking for a Moratorium on Any Subdivisions and Additional New Housing Units Being Approved or Built in the Village of Larchmont, Village of Mamaroneck and Town of Mamaroneck, in order to Evaluate Long-term Planning Tools Such As Developer Fees and Changes to Our Land Use Laws to Responsibly Manage Population Trends.
NOTE - this Moratorium would not prevent anyone from renovating their home or from tearing down an existing single family home and replacing it with a new single family home.

The School's Crisis: Many of our schools have already reached full capacity, with others to follow. Potential remedies include increased class size, mobile classrooms and rezoning for our students (e.g. students being moved to different Elementary schools). The integrity and quality of all of our local schools undergirds our property values. As a community we must stand-up for our schools and cannot let irresponsible and shortsighted planning and building decisions continue to fuel overcrowding. The Hampshire development plan proposes 100 new houses next to Hommocks School; continued leniency with respect subdivisions are adding new units throughout our residential areas; overbuilding/McMansions are bringing more students into our community and driving empty nesters out by limiting downsized housing within our community; developer's proposals for additional apartment complexes in Mamaroneck are pending. As a Community we must consider alternatives, including modifying our land use laws and creating developer fees to protect our property values and protect our schools.
