Thankyou to everyone who showed support for the Carnegie School.
A SCHOOL for at-risk students in Kew is holding classes in a tent after it was forced to close following an audit.
Carnegie School was suspended last December after the independent school regulator found it had failed to meet minimum standards, such as not having on-site toilets.
The closure has devastated parents and former students, many of whom say they are unable to cope in mainstream schools.
To the Minister for Education Ms Bronwyn Pike,
We the undersigned would like to bring to your attention our concern regarding the closure of The Carnegie School.
We strongly feel it is in the best interest of the community for the school to be provided any necessary assistance to re-establish itself in a manor that meets all regulatory requirements.
We feel that any child who makes positive effort towards educating themselves deserves the chance to do just that and The Carnegie School is crucial in providing an alternative to kids who do not fit into mainstream education and would otherwise fall through the gap.
Please consider our request for intervention and assistance from your department in ensuring this school is given every opportunity needed to continue its operation within a safe and functional facility.
Thank you.
