The draft curriculum demeans the study of music, and its practitioners and consigns it to a level of importance and value that results in it ultimately not being worth teaching!

It does not recognise the importance of music in our culture.
It does not embody genuine sequetial learning
It does not recognise cognitive skills
It does not recognise developmental process or logical learning sequences.
It is not teacher friendly.
It has no age appropriate musical vocabulary, content, skills or language support material.

Please review this curriculum and restore music as a discrete subject in the Arts Curriculum.

THIS MUST BE SIGNED BY THE 21ST OF SEPTEMBER 2012.

We, the undersigned call on ACARA to review the Draft National Arts Curriculum in music to restore music as a discrete subject in The Arts and to provide guidelines that are progressive and sequential in the attainment of skills, knowledge and language in music with appropriate support materials for general teachers.
