Recent upgrades of the foreshore in Bayside Brisbane has seen beautiful, advanced, native trees removed to make way for ugly man-made structures and sparse plantings of small non-native trees. Where is the logic?
For a better chance of survival at lowest cost, and in order to attract native fauna, it is imperative to plant trees that are endemic to the area.
If the local council doesn't lead by example by planting endemic species in parks, the tax payers will not be encouraged to follow suit in their own backyards.
We, the undersigned, call on Brisbane City Council to plant more advanced trees in public spaces that are endemic to the local area.
