Piedad Cordoba and other human rights activists had been the target of a terror campaign orchestrated by the DAS (colombian CIA) so far several high ranking members of that agency confessed and provided evidence that the colombian government had an agenda to discredit and link Piedad cordoba with the rebel groups;
Since May 2009 fellow senator Gustavo Petro conduct an inquiry and debate in congress, he provided documents seized in the DAS headquarters in Bogota, there was a file on Piedad Cordoba describing the porpoise and modus operandi of the agents, she was under surveillance 24/7, her house and cell phones tapped, early this year high ranking DAS agents and middle officers were charged and they are still providing testimony against their directors and high ranking officials, an ex director is serving jail time, Maria del Pilar Hurtado the latest Director seek asylum in Panama to avoid jail time.
Besides all the evidence gather by the government that proved the innocence of Piedad Cordoba and bias of the Uribe’s administration against Piedad Cordoba; Attorney general Alejandro Ordoñez, disqualify and prohibits Piedad Cordoba from public service for 18 years.
The core of democracy is under attack by the very same institutions that by the constitution have uphold the rule of law.
We, the undersigned call on the attorney general Alejandro Ordoñez:
To provide access and information about Piedad Cordoba’s case; We demand that she get access to a due process, is our believe that there is enough public information and knowledge that there was a conspiracy within the Uribe’s administration to discredit and link her and others to the rebel groups.
