Petition To Support Seven Year Performing Arts Programs For All Students In Lawrence Township

We believe our nationally recognized programs depend upon four fundamental elements and seek the Board’s commitment to these four points.

1) All students should have the opportunity to begin instrumental education prior to or by the beginning of 6th grade, and continuing on a daily basis throughout a 7-year performing arts experience.

2) Highly qualified, dedicated professional staffing for performing arts programs should provide intensive, consistent, and age appropriate skill development to our students, thereby maintaining the excellence in programming known to exist in Lawrence Township schools.

3) Use of the existing High School districting areas for the potential Middle School changes will ensure the maintenance of the existing strong, successful socio-economic equity between our schools and the continuation of high quality performing arts groups in every school.

4) Alignment of the middle schools with current High School districting areas will ensure consistency in programming and in parent and community support, which have been crucial to the financial stability and success of the performing arts programs when township support has been limited.

We seek the School Board’s pledge to preserve these nationally recognized programs, which strengthen our community by providing outstanding performing arts opportunities for our students that match or exceed those provided by neighboring districts.
