The Osceola Parkway Extension Project is a proposed extension, to Osceola Parkway, that threatens to cut a large path across Narcoossee Road through the Eagle Creek DRI, in Orange County, Florida. The current plan would reduce the number of homes & businesses, disrupt the master design plans for the community, take environmentally sensitive lands and potentially cause millions of dollars in lost revenues and amenities to the Eagle Creek Development and Homeowners Association.

This would dramatically affect the value of the community, quality of life of thousands of residents, and would have an impact on almost 3,000 homes. Most disturbing is the impact on small children, as well as residents utilizing the future Eagle Creek Elementary School and planned local businesses. The damaging effects of serious environmental impacts, endangering protected wildlife, increasing air, noise and groundwater pollution, destroying existing mitigation areas and affecting the community’s aesthetics, which were carefully designed to blend with the environment, along with the surrounding Audubon Golf Community, would forever be irreversibly damaged and our children's quiet, safe and tranquil community would forever be changed.

The proposed project has been designed and planned with alternate routes that protect every community along its path except Eagle Creek. Several other communities have demanded alternative routes be presented, which resulted in successfully pushing the project further North, into Orange County, and ultimately through Eagle Creek, without prior notification of, or input from, the surrounding community, its stakeholders, nor consent from Orange County Government.

To date, no significant data has been provided, to prove the future necessity of this particular route, other than a projected increase in Osceola County population. No traffic studies have been performed to determine the impact to Orange County residents based upon its future population increase, which already surpasses Osceola County in actual numbers.

The Osceola Expressway Authority mission statement very clearly states that “The Osceola County Expressway Authority provides a safe, cost-effective transportation system serving the public in a manner that protects the natural environment and quality of life of Osceola County”, yet they have no problem doing this at the expense of Orange County. There has been no regard for the protection of the natural environment nor quality of life of the residents of Orange County and, to date, the Expressway Authority has failed to consider a No-Build alternative or to provide an alternative to the taking of Orange County private and public lands.

(I)/(We), the undersigned, resident(s) of ORANGE or OSCEOLA County, Florida, hereby petition and call upon the: Osceola County Expressway Authority, Central Florida Expressway Authority, Orange County Board of County Commissioners, Osceola County Board of County Commissioners, Orange County Mayor, Honorable Teresa Jacobs, City of Orlando Mayor Honorable John Crotty, and Board of Directors of Metro Plan Orlando, to demand:
