Our schools are doing all they can to be as successful and effective as possible. But the savings each head teacher is having to make across Renfrewshire total over £2.5 million this year hitting classroom supplies, teacher staffing and support staffing amongst others.
I believe there should now be a rethink. There should be no repeat of these cuts next year. Renfrewshire schools should not be expected to bare an unreasonable burden. Particularly when over £2 million has been put into 'balances' this year and senior officers salaries have risen by over 16% over 2 years.
1) I oppose the imposition on head teachers in Renfrewshire of budget cuts totalling in excess of £2.5m in 2009/10.
2) I believe these budget savings are unfair when over £2 million has been put into 'balances' this year and senior officers salaries have risen by over 16%.
3) I believe Renfrewshire Council should rethink their plans in relation to devolved school budget cuts.
