PETA/HSUS Please lead the fight against Primate Torture

PETA EUROPE has criticized the European Commission on animal experiments, calling it a significant missed opportunity to bring animal experiments under meaningful control and to end experiments on non-human primates. I'm heartened to hear that PETA UK is working on trying to outlaw experiments on primates in Europe. The European AR movement seems to be making great strides in outlawing primate vivisection. In the US some groups are working on exempting the Great Apes from research, which is great, but we need to extend our protection to all the primates. Over 70,000 of them continue to rot away in zoos and vivisectionists laboratories. The time seems right that we in the United States should begin to free our primates. We AR Activists need to put primate rights at the top of our agenda. If we can attain basic rights for primates, that would open the door for all the other animals.

We call upon PETA and HSUS to consider putting a question on the ballot in either Massachusetts or California that would outlaw the use of primates in research. Massachusetts was the first state to outlaw human slavery. PETA and or HSUS could also get a bill introduced into The US Congress to outlaw primate experiments, and mount a nationwide campaign to get Congress to outlaw experiments on primates. Non-human primates should have the same basic rights as 3 year old human primates. They would not be allowed to vote, drive a car or go to school, but they can not be bought, sold or experimented on. They should each be appointed a legal guardian.

We need to work on introducing into Congress the PRA The Primate Rights Amendment.

PETA and HSUS have always been a valuable organizational force in helping animals. If you would please put Primate Liberation at the top of your agenda, I'm pretty sure that we could stop primate experiments, especially if Ingrid Newkirk or Wayne Pacelli led the charge.
