Permit Imagine Boys and Girls Academy to Utilize Morningside Elementary as a K-8 School Facility

Morningside Elementary School, part of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), was closed after the 2008-2009 school year as a part of the PGCPS Phase I Consolidation process.
All former Morningside Elementary School students have been reassigned to other schools, leaving the Town of Morningside as the only municipality without its own elementary school.
We, the undersigned, request the Prince George’s County Public School’s Standing Committee on Facilities Use to recommend approval of the Town of Morningside’s Repurposing School Use Application to have the Imagine Boys and Girls Academy of Prince George’s County (IBGA), a proposed PGCPS contract school, utilize Morningside Elementary School as an educational facility.
Allowing IBGA to occupy the Morningside Elementary School facility will fulfil the Prince George’s County Board of Education’s priority of “expansion of enrichment, speciality, and choice programs.”
It will allow students residing within the Town of Morningside the opportunity to once again attend school within their own neighborhood.
