Since beach tennis started 2 1/2 years ago in the south bay, the sport has grown to the point that people are looking for permanent places to play.
We have now seen interest in the sport grow from 100's to now 1000's. Beach Tennis enthusiasts feel they need their own identity/courts strictly dedicated to beach tennis separate from volleyball.
We are proposing to have a few courts built up and down the coast dedicated to beach tennis only. At this point, the target areas are Manhattan Beach on 7th St; Redondo Beach on G St; and Torrance Beach near the Surfside Grill.
I support the installation of permanent beach tennis courts dedicated strictly to beach tennis only up and down the coast.
