Parking on the entrance of the Salamanca Estate, Aldershot (specifically Badajos Road) is causing congestion and potentially a fatal injury.
In recent years the problem has become worse when non residents use the estate to park to visit the doctor’s surgery (Aldershot Centre for Health) and Aldershot town centre.
When non-residents park on the estate specifically Badajos Road, they make it difficult for residents to enter and exit the estate.
With parked cars on the main entrance to the estate at busy periods, like the school run, when children are crossing roads and the influx of vehicles is heightened the parked cars increase the risk of an accident.
On numerous occasions queues have formed in the estate and on the main road Hospital Hill when vehicles are trying to turn into Badajos Road but due to parked cars this has caused congestion on the main road.
Without the double yellow lines and signage the Police have no authority to move vehicles or penalise the drivers therefore they will continue to park there.
We, the undersigned, call on Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) to erect Residential Parking signage along Badajos Road, Aldershot and to put double yellow lines on the entrance of Badajos Road (connecting to Hospital Hill, Aldershot) ensuring the safety of pedestrians and to ensure that accidents do not occur.
