Our beautiful Park needs the attention it deserves : Friends of Deer Park Group

Deer Park is visited by many Capetonians and foreign visitors.
It is one of the relatively "safe" recreational sites in the City Bowl
for picnicking with your children,
walking or meditating on your own or with your dogs,
for cyclists,
to fetch holy mountain stream waters for your church
amongst other activities.
Our group feels strongly that the Park needs urgent attention on a few levels
We are ready and willing to help and be involved in this process.
Some of the issues we would like to get involved in are ;
The pool area
Safety of the park
Littering and bins
Alien bush clearance
Our first and urgent topic
is the natural pool that is drying up fast
and filling up with river sand,
becoming more shallow by the day.
This poses a health problem for small children and dogs that play in this pool,
and it is tragic to see the little stream trickling away aimlessly
when it could be filling up this once wonderful mountain pool
for all to enjoy
