Since Covid 19 pandemic spread over to Indonesia in March 2020. Tourism Business was immediately destroyed due to most of countries applied “Lock Down” policy where travels were prohibited. Almost all tourism suppliers including Hotels, Restaurants, Shops and travel company closed their operation. Kuta, Nusa Dua, Sanur and Ubud turned up from busy tourist sites to be ghost towns. Thousands of employees had no job, hundreds of small businesses went bankrupt.
We, the undersigned, call on President of Republic Indonesia Pak Joko Widodo, to open international border of Indonesia for foreign tourists on 11 September 2020.
In the past five months, the pandemic hit our industry, we can see there is a positive hint side, many countries in Europe and UK have started opening their International borders where travel activities would be possible to arranged. Especially to Bali, the most favorable destination in the world. This is a great news for Balinese people, where 90% of them working in tourism industry. The Government of Bali has taken this as a great opportunity to take stern decision to bring Bali back to open for foreigner in 11 September 2020. We believe the opening will speed up Bali Tourism Business Recovery.
Unfortunately, the plan of Bali opening in 11 September news has been ruined by unclear statement from Indonesia - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menkomarves) Luhut Binsar Panjaitan said Indonesia would not open the tourism sector to foreign tourists until the end of 2020.
The unclear statement has brought us into uncertainty as there is no date when to open at the end of the year. Neither mentioning whether including Bali.
Dear Our Excellency, Mr. President Joko Widodo.
We are writing to draw your kind attention to conduct immediate action to call for a press release to announce to the world that Bali is opening in 11 September 2020 with Healthy and Safety Control Implementation System. In addition, we would expect to have Visa On Arrival facility will resume back in normal as our initial Immigration regulation.
