We heard some great news this week that Eddie Hughes (local MP) managed to secure some emergency funding from the state government to open the pool asap! Enjoy the water :)
The swimming pool in Coober Pedy is currently closed to the public.
We, the undersigned residents of Coober Pedy, petition the Council and ask that the Council prioritise the immediate opening of the Coober Pedy swimming pool for the public. The Council do this by agreeing to interim arrangements with the Department of Education and Child Development even if in the short term it does cost the community up to what it cost for previous years.
We ask that negotiations for long term use of the pool be done while the community can still gain relief by using the pool. The pool is a vital part of a healthy community in the extreme climate we live in.
The pool is a service the council committed to provide in its annual business plan.
