Humber River dog owners request an off-leash park within easy walking distance of our homes, where dogs and their people can gather, socialize and dogs can exercise & play safely, away from schools, sports fields, and young children. Specifically, senior dog owners and those who may have mobility issues would have a safe, local place to exercise/socialize their dogs and connect with each other. Our hope is to develop a beautiful, well-maintained space open to all dog lovers and friends who are willing to uphold the park's rules and restrictions.
We view this park as a community project, in partnership with the Humber River Community, designed to satisfy the needs of dog-owners and non-dog owners alike.
The nearest fenced-in off-leash park (High Park) is 2.2 km away, a 40+ minute walk. Beresford Park is 1.5 Km, a 25+ minute walk, however, it is not fenced in and many feel unsafe as it is so close to the road. As a result, many dog owners use local playgrounds, soccer fields and schoolyards as off-leash parks. A designated, fenced, leash-free zone would benefit both dog owners and the community as a whole.

We, the undersigned, call on the City of Toronto to implement a designated off-leash area in the Humber River park.
