Our oceans, which cover the 70% of the earth's surface play a key factor when talking about sustaining life within their depths and aslo play a very important role in regulating our planet's climate.
However human activity has led to an extreme level of pollution that is its wreaking havoc on these ecosystems.
Evidence of Ocean pollution:
Plastic Pollution: Millions of tons of plastic are throwed to the oceans, they damage amrine life since animals eat that plastic. One example of how big this issue is is the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, whihc is a big accumulation of plastic waste.
Chemical Runoff: This come from agriculture and industry, they introduce dangerous chemicals into the ocean, this provoques nutrient imbalances, destructive algal blooms and also a big damage to coral reefs.
Oil Spills: Some are caused by accidents, others by the illegal dumping. They make devastating effects on marine ecosystems since it harms wildlife, long-term habitat degradation and also has a negative effect on local economies.
We, the undersigned, urgently call upon the UN to take immeditate action to combat ocean pollution and stop the alarming rate of species extinction. We implore you to:
Adopt tight laws: Adopt tight laws to lower the chemical runoff, stop plastic pollution ans prevent spilling oil incidents.
Champion Sustainable Fishing Practices: Promote sustainable fishing by enforcing strict fishing laws and also protect marine species as well as ecosystems from overfishing.
Invest in Research and Restoration: Providefunding for creative solutions to reduce ocean pollution and also protect marine life, focusing on the pereservation and restoration of marine ecosystems and coral reefs.
Increase Public Awareness: Launch educational proposals to let people know about why we should cara and why is it important to protect our seas and marine ecosystems.
