We are trying to save the green land on Normandy Drive for many reasons. The council are wanting to build yet more houses on this land and also a community/performing arts centre.
Members of the community feel that this is an eyesore and will bring many problems. Parking is already a major issue for the many residents of Normandy Drive and the community centre will add to this issue.
There are also several community centres already within close proximity of Normandy Drive and a performing arts located at Chipping Sodbury school.
As a community we feel that the community centre will add to noise disturbance.
The green is used by many children to play on throughout the year and for people to walk their dogs. We feel that if the council are insisting on using this piece of land, that it would be more beneficial to install a small park or play area that would be of much more use for the surrounding community.
We, the undersigned, call upon the South Gloucestershire Council and Taylor Wimpy to stop the plans to build houses and a community Centre on the unfenced green land located on the east of Normandy Drive and south of Kennedy Way.
This will cause many problems some of which are already issues for us. For example, the parking situation.
